Spring is finally in the air<\/p>\n
I don’t know about you for some reason winter seemed much longer
\nthis year, especially having that last storm arrived after
\nseeing mud season disappear<\/p>\n
Now things are drying up around the farm again and the temps are
\nreaching 70’s daily<\/p>\n
I hate mud season its the last transition point when you live on
\na farm that reminds you of the past winter<\/p>\n
With great weather on the horizon it is also planning time for many<\/p>\n
Lots of things to do with the new summer season approaching<\/p>\n
Now is the time people are planning their activities
\nassociated with summer<\/p>\n
I don’t know about you this change in the seasons is the
\nkick in the butt for me to add more content to my pre-existing
\nwebsites and make new ones for the upcoming demands<\/p>\n
People are planning their vacations, making travel plans
\nor just plain outdoor activities around the house and more<\/p>\n
I can smell the barbecue cooking already<\/p>\n
Last year Google devastated many of us with all their
\nupdates<\/p>\n
Some of it was justified and many suffered collateral damage in
\nthe wake of the updates<\/p>\n
Content is KING again, but with a twist a certain amount of
\nengagement from your visitors is expected if you want to rank
\nthese days<\/p>\n
The question for many is knowing where in the Google search results
\nthey can fit<\/p>\n
You can’t do this with just writing good content if your competition
\ndominates the top keywords in your niche<\/p>\n
So you need every advantage in finding where to poke holes
\nin the Google Algorithm and hope for the best<\/p>\n
The long tail for keywords is still the way to go<\/p>\n
Finding which keywords to target is always a challenge<\/p>\n
As I consult more and more with the IMers the most common question
\nI receive is about optimizing web pages for keywords with low to no
\nsearch counts from the Google Keyword Tool<\/p>\n
What seems to be forgotten when you focus on only the monthly
\nsearch counts in GWT is the long tail contains the desirable keywords
\nwith the high daily search counts<\/p>\n
In fact when you look at all the variations of the long tail for
\nparticular keywords the search counts for daily visits can add
\nup<\/p>\n
Lets take an example of a long tail root keyword<\/p>\n
“make money”<\/p>\n
This is an extremely highly searched keyword phrase with tons and
\ntons of people searching for this especially with this recession<\/p>\n
Lets take a look at some data from the Google Keyword Tool for this
\nhighly competitive keyword for local monthly searches<\/p>\n
make money broad match 2,240,000
\nmake money exact match 12,100
\nmake money phrase match 1,000,000<\/p>\n
Notice the vast difference of searches between the exact match and
\nthe phrase match<\/p>\n
There is 987,900 difference between the two of them<\/p>\n
The difference between the two of them is the long tail<\/p>\n
The greater the difference shows that many are missing out on the
\npossibilities of getting in front of that traffic if you only look
\nfor high search count results<\/p>\n
Here is one long tail keyword I found using an evergreen method that
\nalways works<\/p>\n
