As 2013 is moving along, 2012 was devastating for many of us who lost top ten rankings in Google search.

Lets take a quick what that means

Penguins updates was intended to weed out SEOers who manipulated their rankings by linking spamming, spun content, over optimized sites etc…

The web is littered with stories of how it affected many to the point many had to start all over. In my opinion it was a very successful in Googles eyes. They even came out with the Disavow tool to own up to all of this link spamming.

Many of the injured considered even responding on owning up to their misdeeds. Well Google never offers anything for free they take they always take. So if you are even considering admitting to what you are up to then I have a bridge for sale you might be interested in buying. 🙂

Honestly do you really believe this will help you?

All it is a big ploy to get you to spill the beans on your activities. No different than using any of Googles products like analytics and Chrome. Really! Anything that Google does is for information and self serving. So don’t be so gullible.

Second the Panda update. This is the one I really want you to listen real close. Panda is about a large scale ability to use artificial intelligence. The technology has gotten to the point Google is going to make this main stream in how they will judge who ranks and who does not.

Goodbye spammers is what Google is after for serving relevant results that do not compete with their business. There is a few exceptions to this. It is the alliance with big business.

Let me give you an example of what I mean. Pick any buyer keyword and take a look who is ranking in the top ten results.

I chose Buy Nikon Camera, this keyword phrase is a money keyword with lots and lots of searches daily.

Ok now, who do you see in the top ten results.
Nikon
Walmart
Amazon
eBay etc… the list goes on

Do you see any little affiliates ranking. You won’t because part of this Panda update is brand recognition. You have to think for a moment if Joe Average types in this keyword phrase and looks at the results what do you think is going through their mind.

Trust, I recognize the vendor etc… if they see a small affiliate two things might be going on their mind. I don’t know who they are so I don’t trust them or if they figure out your only the middle man for a product why not cut out the little man and go direct to Amazon for instance. In a way makes a lot of sense, but still they are in bed with these Giants of Business making it harder and harder for the little affiliate.

The only thing saving those who persevere is being able to maneuver quickly and being opened minded and adjusting to the climate.

The underlying technology for Panda is nothing new thou. The big brother to this that Google is emulating is a big competitor of Google. A market that Google is having a real hard time breaking into. It is the Russian market and their search engine Yandex.

You see Yandex core principle for ranking is not some numbers and votes cast by linking schemes. But it is real activity to websites. Websites people expect to see and stay on them. Not some made for adsense site or what every scheme you have going on with scamming the Google search engine. It will not work with Yandex, period.

Yandex uses models on what will motivate people to stay on the sites they visit and participate. Along with that some common sense supporting attributes with common sense linking and so forth.

Take a look at the video below with Rand Fiskind and Andy Atkins-Krüger and the discussion of the yandex search engine. This is what Panda is doing and the history of SEO is fast coming to a halt other than a title on your resume.

Enjoy the video and till next time
